报道称，研究人员此前在美国肯塔基州南部的猛犸洞国家公园和阿拉巴马州北部采集了化石，确定了两种鲨鱼新物种。美国国家公园管理局称，他们通过牙齿、部分下颌和鳃对这两种鲨鱼进行了鉴定，认为其体长均超过3米。
